A sustainable-building-materials company, Alterego focuses on ecologically-sound flooring, tiling, and solid surfaces. The company’s showroom, located on Frederick Road in Catonsville, Maryland, features flooring fashioned from bamboo, cork, linoleum and rubber; Sandhill and all-natural-terrazzo tiles; and a variety of surface-coverings made from recycled materials. Based in Cabin John, Maryland, Renewed Materials works to develop ecologically- and economically-sound alternatives for the design community. Their flagship product, Alkemi, is composed of 60% post-industrial scrap aluminum and can be used for a variety of interior-design fixtures — as a replacement, for example, for stone, plastic, or glass.
