They help the concerns of groups and individuals be heard and understood through a high level of artistic presentation. 1000 Friends of Maryland

1000 Friends of Maryland seeks primarily to fight poorly planned development. They work to protect Maryland’s natural areas and waterways, strengthen neighborhoods, and restore Maryland’s cities through education, technical assistance, and advocacy. Protecting historic and natural resources, assuring efficient transportation choices, and supporting development that takes the public’s interest into account are all part of their commitment.

Megaphone Project is a non-profit organization that “produces low-cost documentaries that amplify voices for social and economic justice in Maryland.” They specialize in making “short, inexpensive, issue-based productions for advocates to show to community members, decision makers, and opinion leaders as part of organized campaigns for change.” Their productions have “helped advocate for reform in the criminal justice system, public housing, predatory lending, real estate development, public transit, and day labor.”

Center for Watershed Protection

The Center for Watershed Protection is a non-profit corporation that provides local governments, activists, and watershed organizations around the country with the technical tools for protecting the nation’s streams, lakes, and rivers. The center has developed and disseminated a multi-disciplinary strategy to watershed protection that encompasses watershed planning, watershed restoration, storm water management, watershed research, better site design, education and outreach, and watershed training.

Chesapeake Climate Action Network

Future Harvest — A Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture

Future Harvest is comprised of Chesapeake Bay-area farmers, landowners and agricultural specialists. The group supports locally-grown food markets, sustainable farming practices such as limited pesticide use and sensitive land-cultivation, and environmental stewardship. Of note are Future Harvest’s specifically farmer-targeted programs — email alerts, newsletters, and study circles.

Center For The New American Dream

The Center for The New American Dream is a Washington DC based forum that "helps Americans consume responsibly to protect the environment, enhance quality of life, and promote social justice." It works with "individuals, institutions, communities, and businesses to conserve natural resources, counter the commercialization of our culture, and change the way goods are produced and consumed." They empower the public to live consciously, buy wisely, and make a difference.
